How to Avoid Explorer Redirections

By default, Microsoft Internet Explorer automatically redirects users whenever a redirect link is embedded in a website. This may happen if you visit a site that has a Flash introduction or log into a discussion forum. Certain re-directs also send you to websites designed for malicious purposes, including to infect your machine with spyware and viruses. Set Internet Explorer to ask your permission before re-directing you to protect your computer from attacks.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an Internet Explorer window. Click the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Internet Options."

    • 2

Choose the "Security" tab and click "Custom Level." Scroll down to "Miscellaneous" until you see "Meta Refresh."

    • 3

Select the "Disable" option. Click "OK," then exit out of Internet Explorer and re-open it to apply changes.
