1
Measure the diameter of the circular metal frame that the domed lamp top rests on. This will give you the size needed in the event you can find a replacement. You do not want to purchase one too large or too small to fit on your lamp.
-
2
Contact the vintage retailer that you purchased the lamp from if you did indeed purchase the lamp. Often, these lamps were sold in pairs for placing on end tables. It is possible you could source one of these domed tops from them. However, it will likely mean that you have to purchase the entire lamp.

3
Inspect the base of the lamp for any markings that would tell you which company manufactured the lamp. Show any identifying markings to an industry expert or collector to help you determine who made the lamp. Once you determine who made the lamp, contact the company if it's still in business to determine if you can source a replacement from them.

4
Select a modern reproduction top that either matches the bottom glass or complements it. Often you can replace the bottom glass to match the replacement top glass. Although this diminishes the vintage value of the lamp, it does allow you to use the lamp.

5
Locate a glass blower or glass presser in your area and commission him to create an exact reproduction of your glass top. Although this will be very expensive and will still diminish the vintage valve of your lamp, it will provide you with the exact same look as your original lamp.
