How to Add a 'Like' Button in a Facebook Profile
Facebook pages, which represent an organization, business, celebrity or band are somewhat different than personal profiles. Created and maintained by an official representative of the organization, business, celebrity or band, pages feature "Like" buttons rather than the ability to add friends. The people who like the Page become fans, and the number of fans is displayed on the Page. The "Like" button is visible at the top of your page once it is created. Any person on Facebook can click this button, and your page will then be added to that person's profile in her list of "Likes."

Launch a Web browser.

Navigate to the Facebook "Create a Page" screen.

Select the type of organization, product or person for whom you wish to create the Page with the "Like" button. You must be a fan, member or representative of the enterprise. As of the date of publication, options include: Company, Organization or Institution; Brand or Product; Artist, Band or Public Figure; Entertainment and Cause or Community.

Enter all required information into the pop-up menu, including name of business, business address and phone number for the "Local Business or Place" page. The "Company, Organization, or Institution," "Brand or Product," "Artist, Band or Public Figure" and "Entertainment" pages require the name of the entity and a category that can be chosen from a drop-down menu. The "Cause or Community" page requires the name of the cause or community.

Place a check mark in the box next to "I Agree to the Facebook Pages Terms." The terms can be read by clicking the words "Facebook Pages Terms," which appear in light blue type.

Click "Get Started." A pop-up window with a security check will appear.

Type the two security check words into the provided box exactly as they appear. Click "Submit." A "Create a Facebook Account" page will appear.

Click "I Already Have a Facebook Account" if you have an existing personal profile, which is required to open a page. This will take you to the Facebook login screen.
If you don't, click "I Do Not Have a Facebook Account" to create a new account and follow the steps to create a personal profile, entering basic information as well as your email address and name. Click the link in the verification email you receive to complete the profile verification. This link will take you to the Facebook login screen.

Enter your personal profile email address and password at the Facebook login screen. The "Get Started" page for your new page will appear automatically, as you have already initiated the process, and the site has saved this progress. The "Get Started" screen for your new page will have the name of the page at the top.

Check the top of your Facebook page. The "Like" button appears directly across from the name of the page. At this point, you may add an image, invite friends to like the page, post status updates or link the page to your mobile phone. The "Like" button will appear to all who view the page, and anyone can click this button to become a fan.

You may not add a "Like" button to a personal profile. The use of this button is restricted to pages.
