The scroll function on a laptop computer allows you to use the touch pad for vertical scrolling in the same way a mouse wheel works with the cursor on the screen. The touch pad on a laptop can scroll horizontally as well. Turning on this function in Windows XP is similar to activating it for most Windows-based systems used on laptops, but adjustments will vary depending on the specific operating system.
