How to Configure Adblock Plus

Adblock Plus is an add-on for the Mozilla Firefox web browser that is designed to block various types of ads on websites. The add-on is capable of blocking advertisements, tracking by marketers and banners on web pages. To use Adblock Plus, you must first install the add-on for your Firefox browser. Once installed, you will configure the add-on based on the web pages and websites you visit.

  • Go to the download page for the Adblock Plus Firefox Add-On. Click on the "Add to Firefox" to install the Add-On for the browser. An icon with the letters "ABP" will appear on the browser. You will be asked to restart Firefox.

  • Once you have restarted Firefox, click the Adblock Plus icon and select the option for "Preferences." Click the "Filters drop down menu and select the option for "Add Filter Subscription."

  • Select the "EasyList (English)" or the "Fanboy's List (English)" filter subscription from the drop-down selection box.

  • Click the "Add Subscription" button to add the filter subscription to the add-on. A filter subscription is needed to block ads that appear on web pages.

  • Click the "Adblock Plus" icon and select the option for "Disable on (website)" to add an exception to the add-on. This will turn off Adblock Plus on that specific website. Repeat this step to add exceptions for additional websites.

  • Select the option for "Disable on (web page)" if you do not want to disable Adblock Plus for the entire website. Repeat this step to add exceptions for additional web pages.
