How to Get Unbanned From "Counter-Strike"

Save

The video game "Counter Strike" has until recently been one of the most-cheated games in existence. In response to this, the game's developer, Valve Corporation, has implemented a series of strict bans through their Valve Anti-Cheat program that identifies and bans players that are using the cheats that Valve has identified. In addition to this, a voting system is implemented by some servers to help identify and ban players who are using cheats. Getting back into the game after a ban, whether warranted or not, is a task that may not be altogether worth the effort.

  • Contact the site host for your game and request to know why you have been banned from using the game. Because you have paid for the game, you have the right to know why. If you knowingly used cheats, however, you should already know why you have been banned. The decision is irreversible in flagrant instances of cheating. In addition, Valve's customer support website, Steam support, will not respond to questions regarding bans.

  • Explain to the host the circumstances that you believe led to your being banned from the game. This may or may not work, depending on what actually happened. If they decide to reinstate you, you should be able to resume game play immediately. If not, you will have to pursue other options.

  • Change the I.P. address from which you are playing the game. This is possible for some who are extremely experienced with computers, but for most people, it means playing the game on a different computer. In addition, if you registered your copy of the game, this registration will be noted on the ban report, meaning that you will have to purchase a new game if you wish to play again.

  • Change your screen name after you have loaded "Counter Strike" onto the different computer, purchased a new game or after you have changed your computer's I.P. address. Once you have done this, avoid cheating to prevent having to go through the process again.

Tips & Warnings

  • A banned account will still allow you to play on some unsecure servers. You will not, however, be able to connect to any secure servers again.
  • Cheating on "Counter Strike" means that if you are caught and banned, you cannot return or exchange your game and you cannot play on secure servers again.
