How to Use a Bernina Stitch Regulator
The Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) enables control over stitch length while free motion quilting or embroidering. The BSR regulates the sewing speed and stitch length regardless of the movement of the fabric using an eye that tracks the movement as you sew. The BSR is available for use with the "Artista" models 630, 640, and 730 only. The attachment works with straight stitches and zigzag stitches and offers two modes for the utmost convenience.
Instructions

1
Lower the feed dogs so they do not pull the fabric while sewing.
-
2
Slide the BSR foot under and onto the mounting cone from right to left and secure it with the clamping lever.
-
-
3
Insert the BSR plug into the green socket to the left of the needle. The plug will be pointing up. Press it into the socket until it is firmly in place. If you need help seeing the socket, there will be a reflection in the slide on table on the base of the machine.
-
4
Set the BSR on Mode 1 for continuous sewing whether the fabric is moving or not. If you prefer the machine to stop sewing when the fabric stops moving, set the BSR to Mode 2.
-
5
Position yourself so your arms are at a 90-degree angle to the project and your breastbone is centered in front of the needle. This allows the best control over the project, while allowing for greater visual access to the plate while sewing.
-
6
Place your project under the needle assembly and begin sewing at a steady pace. Continue sewing until you have completed the project. You may use the stop/start button or the foot pedal for sewing.
