Teach with love, respect and care.

Deciding to teach the Bible might feel daunting, as if you're assuming an awesome responsibility. And you are. But you are also simply preparing to teach a book. You will make detailed outlines for each session, or organize everything at the last minute, as you would teaching any other book. Of course, you can always bring your emotions and feelings into your teaching, but the main thing is to get the structure straight first.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide if you are going to start at the beginning with Genesis, from the Old Testament, or if you are starting out with the New Testament.

    • 2

Determine whether you want to go page by page as written, or whether you will create topics like "love" or "devotion," and study passages as they apply.

    • 3

Create your teaching style. From day one, lesson one, you need to project who you are as a teacher. This is extremely important when it comes to the Bible. People not only can disagree on the writings, but they can also disagree on what the book should mean for their lives.

    • 4

Pick your stance and don't deviate from your opinions as you teach. If you find your own beliefs changing as a result of the discussions, keep that to yourself while you are teaching. You want others to come to their own conclusions and experience changes of opinion or a strengthening of belief without undue influence.
