How to Change an iCal Icon

Mac OS X relies heavily on its graphical user interface. The colorful, detailed icons are part of the Mac experience, and it only makes sense that you can change them to customize your Mac. If you want to change the icon for an application on your system like iCal, you only need to have a replacement icon available, then you simply make the change in the Info dialog box.

Instructions

      Locate the icon you want to use to replace the iCal icon in the Finder.

      Copy the new icon.

      Locate iCal in the Finder. Typically, you will find it in the Applications folder.

      Right-click on it and select "Get Info" to open the Info dialog box.

      Select the iCal icon next to the File name at the top of the dialog.

      Paste the new icon over the old one. This will replace the iCal icon.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you decide you do not like your new icon, you can undo it by clicking "Edit," "Undo Paste" from the main menu. You can also press "Apple-Z" to undo. However, if you perform any actions after pasting the new icon, the Undo feature will not work.
