How to Scroll the Chat Screen

Chat rooms can be fun ways to meet new people across the world or to learn about new products.

Chat screen scrolling is a method people use to take up valuable screen space, whether it's to promote a product or to get the attention of other chatters in the room. Scrolling is often looked down upon and sometimes even banned from certain chat rooms, but it's not illegal, and it sometimes can be an effective way of getting your word out quickly to many people at once.

Instructions

1. Open your chat client --- such as Yahoo, AIM or Trillian --- and join a chat room.

2. In a blank message meant for no one but yourself, write out what you wish to scroll through the chat room. "Hi. What's up? Did you know you can shop at XXX and save 20 percent on XXX?" Or whatever your message may be.

3. Copy pieces of your message a phrase at a time and hit "Enter." For instance: "Hi. What's up?" Hit "Enter." "Did you know," hit "Enter." "You can shop at XXX," hit "Enter." "And save 20% on XXX?" hit "Enter." Doing this will scroll the chat screen, and your message will be seen by all in the room.

Tips & Warnings

• Be sure to read chat room guidelines before you scroll; scrolling could cause you to lose chat privileges, as this might be considered a nuisance to the chat administrators.
