Weave knitting yarn into a potholder.

When you are learning how to weave, you may think you need to use a large, complicated weaving loom that can take years to master. However, you can create a smaller knitted craft weaving using a basic tabletop loom that can be purchased at a craft supply store. This enables you to create a small woven knit project that can be used as a washcloth or potholder. You can even use yarn colors to match your kitchen decor.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a table top loom onto a table or counter, and arrange the loom so that it appears like a square.

    • 2

Tie the end of a ball of yarn onto the loom peg on the lower left, then wind the yarn back and forth between the loom pegs on the right and left sides. Alternate the yarn between the opposing pegs on the loom. Once you reach the peg on the upper right, cut off the yarn and tie it onto the peg on the upper right.

    • 3

Cut off a length of yarn to measure 24 inches long, and thread it onto a yarn needle.

    • 4

Tie the end of the yarn onto the peg on the upper left, and weave the yarn back and forth through the other wrapped yarn on the loom. Each time you weave the yarn all the way through, wrap the yarn around the pegs on the top and bottom of the loom. Once you reach the yarn on the lower right, cut it off of the needle and tie it onto the lower right peg.

    • 5

Remove the woven square from the loom by lifting it straight off. The edges will remain intact around the perimeter of the square. Repeat to create as many woven knit squares as you prefer.
