How to Remove the PDF White Background in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is a computer-aided drafting program by Autodesk. Upon opening a new drawing in AutoCAD, you'll find the default white background. It is imperative to be able to understand how to change the color of the background, as white backgrounds waste more of your computer's energy than darker ones. Also, staring at a darker background is often easier on the eyes than staring at a very bright background. Additionally, bright drafting lines often appear much more clearly on a dark background. You can easily change the background color with a click of your mouse.

Things You'll Need

  • AutoCAD Software
  • Open AutoCAD.

  • Type the word "Options" in the command bar, and press "Enter." Notice that the Options window appears. You do not have to click on the command bar that appears at the bottom of your screen. Starting to type automatically enters the words in the command bar.

  • Click the "Display" tab at the top of the Options window.

  • Click the "Colors" button in the "Display" tab of the Options window.

  • Select "Uniform Background" from the "Interface Element" list in the middle of the window. To the right of this list, you will notice the "Color" pull-down menu.

  • Select the background color of your choice from the "Color" pull-down menu. You can also change the color of all other interface elements here or set them back to their default settings. Click "Apply & Close" once you are done changing interface element properties.
