How to Put Things in JELL-O
JELL-O salad includes ingredients such as oranges and grapefruit pieces evenly distributed throughout the gelatin. If you've tried to make your own version, the pieces you added may have sunk to the bottom of the bowl. Or perhaps you cut up the gelatin while trying to stir in the extra ingredients. Make JELL-O following instructions on the package label.

Refrigerate the JELL-O for about 60 minutes until it thickens but is not completely set, then push the bottom of a spoon into the top of the gelatin. If the spoon leaves a definite impression, it's time to add the extra ingredients. If the spoon moves easily through watery JELL-O, it needs more time to thicken.

Add ingredients like minced apples, blueberries or shredded carrots into the thickened JELL-O. Stir them in with a spoon and put the dish back in the refrigerator to set.
