How to Arrange Streamers

Use crepe paper streamers to decorate your party area.

When planning a party, decorations can put your guests in a festive mood. Enhance your party atmosphere with a variety of decorations such as balloons, a centerpiece for the party table, banners and streamers. Streamers are an inexpensive and colorful way to decorate the party area. Various types of streamers from which to choose include metallic, streamers that include printed slogans, holiday streamers, or traditional crepe-paper party streamers. Does this Spark an idea?

  Look for various colored streamers or colors that coordinate with your decor or party theme. When decorating for special occasions such as a bridal or baby shower, use colors that coordinate with the event. For example, hang streamers for a baby shower using colors that represent the gender of the baby. For holidays, use colors that represent the colors for the holiday. For example, when decorating for an Independence Day celebration use red, white and blue streamers.

  Decorate the party tables with streamers. Turn the streamer vertically and cut it the length of the table. Start at one corner of the table and use small pieces of tape to attach the streamer to the edge of the table. Attach streamer trimming to the edge of the tablecloths with small pieces of tape. Start at one end of the tablecloth and continue adding the streamer around the length of the table.

  Hang streamers horizontally across the ceiling by cutting an 18-inch piece of streamer from each color you select. Anchor one end of the streamer to the ceiling with double-sided tape. Hold one side and twist the streamers of alternating colors for a more decorative effect. Tape the streamer to the ceiling periodically to form a "U" shape.

  Decorate with streamers both inside and outside. Wrap streamers diagonally around a stairway banister or standing column as well as from light fixtures and chandeliers by attaching one end of the streamer to it. Hang streamers from trees, wrap them around swing sets, fences and mailbox posts.
