How to Disable a Session in Firefox
The set of browser windows and tabs you have open at any given time while using Mozilla's Firefox browser are called a "session." By default, Firefox records your sessions; this way, if the browser crashes, all your windows and tabs will be restored. Firefox can also be directed to restore your previous session automatically when you open the browser, regardless of whether or not it crashed. To disable either of these features, or to turn off session logging entirely, you can change settings in Firefox's Preferences window and configuration page.

1
Disable Firefox's restore-sessions-on-start feature by opening the Preferences window. In Windows, open the "Tools" menu and click "Options"; in Mac OS, open the "Firefox" menu and click "Preferences"; in Linux, open the "Edit" menu and click "Preferences." Select the "General" tab and set "When Firefox Starts" to something besides "Show my windows and tabs from last time."

2
Tell Firefox not to restore sessions automatically after a crash by changing a setting in Firefox's configuration page. Type "about:config" into the address bar and press "Enter," then click "I'll be careful, I promise!" to bring up the configuration page. Type "browser.sessionstore" into the "Filter" box and press "Enter," then double-click "browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash" to change its value to "false."

Disable Firefox's session logging function entirely and tell it not to remember session information at all by double-clicking "browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo" and "browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo" on the configuration page and setting both their values to "0".
