How to Remove My Skype Names on the Drop-Down Menu

You can delete Skype user names from the log in screen drop-down menu.

Skype, the free text, voice and video Internet chat program, lets you have as many Skype usernames as you want. If you use Skype for both business and personal communications, you might want separate Skype logins for each. All of your Skype usernames are available in the drop-down menu on the Skype login screen. You cannot remove a Skype username from the Skype servers, but you can delete them from the login screen drop-down menu.

Instructions

1. Click "Start," then type "Run" in the search box. Enter "%appdata%\skype" in the "Open" text box and press "Enter" or click "OK."

2. Highlight the folder in the open directory window with the Skype username you want to remove. Press the "Delete" key or right-click and select "Delete."

3. Click "OK" in the confirmation window. The Skype username will no longer be in the login screen drop-down menu.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to use a username you have deleted, open Skype, enter the username and password in the "Skype Name" and "Password" text boxes and click "Sign In."
