FaceTime Is Not Working on the iPhone 4

Save

FaceTime is a feature available on the iPhone 4 that allows you to video chat with other iPhone owners with the front camera on your phone. To use FaceTime, you must connect to a Wi-Fi network. If FaceTime is not working on your iPhone, you can perform a few troubleshooting steps, which include verifying that FaceTime is enabled, verifying that there are no restrictions blocking FaceTime and verifying that your iPhone is able to connect to a Wi-Fi network. If these troubleshooting procedures do not work, you can try restarting the device or, alternately, resetting all iPhone options.

  • Tap "Settings" on the home screen of your iPhone then scroll down and tap "Phone." Make sure that "FaceTime" is set to "ON." If not, tap the "OFF" button to change it to "ON."

  • Tap "Settings" on the home screen and verify that you have Wi-Fi connectivity enabled on your iPhone. If "Not Connected" appears next to "Wi-Fi," tap the "Wi-Fi" option and verify that "Wi-Fi" is set to "ON." If this setting is not enabled, tap the "OFF" button to change it to "ON." Tap a network from the list of networks in the "Choose a Network" section and enter the network passkey if you are prompted to do so.

  • Tap "Settings" on the home screen, then tap "General." Scroll down and tap "Restrictions." Verify that the "FaceTime" option is set to "ON." Tap the "OFF" button to change it to "ON" if necessary.

  • Press the "Hold/Power" button at the top of the iPhone and hold it down for approximately five seconds. Slide your finger across the screen on the "Slide to Power Off" slider to turn the iPhone off. Wait approximately 30 seconds. Press the "Hold/Power" button for two seconds to restart the iPhone.

  • Tap "Settings" on the home screen. Tap "General." Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap "Reset." Tap "Reset All Settings." A warning menu will appear. Tap "Reset All Settings" again. The iPhone will reset.
