How to Clip-On a Ponytail

Clip your way to a new hairstyle.

If your hair lacks the length or thickness that you desire, clip-on ponytails can create the illusion of an entirely different head of hair. Unlike full-head weaves that requires hours of application time and expense, ponytail extensions are faster, more affordable and able to enhance your look in a matter of seconds. Ponytails are available in both synthetic and human hair varieties. Human hair lends itself to the same styling methods that you use on your own natural hair while synthetic hairpieces cannot withstand heat and generally cannot be altered from the texture that you purchase them in.

Things You'll Need

• 2 ponytail holders
• Bobby pins

Instructions

1. Choose a ponytail that matches your hair's natural color and texture. This will make your look look more realistic. If your hair is blond and wavy, selecting a brown ponytail with straight hair will create an obvious and distracting contrast that won't fool anyone.

2. Coax your natural hair back into a tight ponytail and then twist it into a knot.

3. Secure your hair knot with a second ponytail holder or bobby pins.

4. Squeeze open the clip on your ponytail extension and then clamp it down over your hair knot.

5. Fluff, brush or otherwise style the ponytail.
