How to Dye Felted Wool With Kool Aid

You can make your felted wool crafts more interesting and colorful by dying the felted wool in a rainbow of different colors. Although you can use chemical fabric dyes to change the color of the felted wool, you can also dye the felted wool using basic Kool Aid packages. This enables you to change the color of the wool felt without spending a lot of money on expensive fabric dyes.

Instructions

      Fill a stock pot with 1 gallon of water. Heat the stock pot over high heat until the water begins to boil, then turn the heat down to low.

      Add four packages of Kool Aid into the stock pot. Stir the mixture with a spoon for 2 minutes to incorporate the ingredients well.

      Submerge 1 to 2 lbs. of felted wool into the Kool Aid dye water, and simmer the felted wool for 30 minutes.

      Pour out the Kool Aid dye water, and rinse out the felted wool for at least 5 minutes. The water should run clear.

      Lay the felted wool flat onto a towel, and allow it to air dry for 3 hours.
