Instructions

    • 1

Cut two equal lengths of cord and mark the center of each cord.

    • 2

Pass one cord through the key ring. Lay this cord vertically on a flat surface with the key ring at the center. Place the second cord horizontally over the key ring with the center lined up with the center of the bottom cord.

    • 3

Fold the top cord down and to the left of the bottom cord, leaving a loop at the fold. Fold the left cord over the cord you folded down. Fold the bottom cord up. Pass the right cord over the cord you folded up and through the loop of the first cord. Pull all the cords taut. You should have a woven square.

    • 4

Fold the top cord down, leaving a loop at the fold. Fold the right cord over the cord you folded down. Fold the bottom cord up. Pass the left cord over the cord you folded up and through the loop in the first cord worked. Pull all the cords taut.

    • 5

Fold the top cord down, leaving a loop at the fold. Fold the left cord over the cord you folded down. Fold the bottom cord up. Pass the right cord over the cord you folded up and through the loop of the first cord. Pull all the cords taut.

    • 6

Repeat the process until the braid is the length you want. Gather all four cords together. Form a loop, pass all four cord ends through the loop and pull the knot tight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always start by folding the top cord down. If the top cord is on the right side of the square, fold the right cord next. If it is on the left side, fold the left cord next.
