How to Soften Stale Granola Bars
Granola bars come in soft or hard varieties, but stale granola is stale granola and no one wants to eat that. Granola bars are actually a form of bar cookie, made of oats as the main gluten rather than flour. When the moisture is reduced from the ingredients they can become stale and difficult to eat, but you can restore them to a more desirable condition with a few simple tricks. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Plastic zipper storage bag or container
- Apple slices
- Slices of fresh bread
- Microwave
- Cup of water
- Paper towel

Store granola bars in an airtight container.

Add a couple of apple slices or bread slices to the container if the granola bars begin to harden. Leave the apple slices or fresh bread with the granola bars for at least 24 hours or until the apples wither or the bread becomes hard.

Remove stale granola bars from individual wrappers if they are store purchased, and place in a zipper storage bag with a slice or two of fresh bread for 24 hours.

Microwave a single granola bar for 30 seconds on 50 percent power with a small cup of water to soften it if it is stale. With this method, the granola bar needs to be eaten immediately.
