How to Use Facebook Chat in Skype

In June 2011, Skype announced that it would be integrating Facebook text and video chat in the Skype voice over IP software. As of the date of publication, this feature is available only in the beta version of the Skype software. You can use Facebook Chat in Skype by downloading the beta software, and eventually the feature will be included in the standard versions of Skype.

Instructions

1. Launch a Web browser and navigate to skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows/beta/.

2. Click "Download" to download and install Skype 5.5 Beta.

3. Click "Start," type "Skype" in the search box at the bottom of the menu, then press "Enter."

4. Click the "Facebook" icon in the "Contacts" pane.

5. Click "Connect to Facebook," then sign in to your Facebook account and click "Allow."

6. Select a Facebook contact from the "Contacts" list using the chat box at the bottom of the screen. You can chat only with those Facebook contacts who are signed in to their accounts.
