A not-so-masculine headband from the flower-power era

Show off your handsome waves and curls by letting your hair grow long. While it is growing out, you need a way to keep it out of your eyes. Headbands are great for controlling medium-length hair that is long enough to get in your eyes but too short for a ponytail. If all of the headbands in the stores look too girly, you can make your own headband in a more masculine style. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Use a tape measure to measure around your head at the point where you want to wear the headband.

    • 2

Cut a length of 1-inch-wide black elastic equal to the length you measured.

    • 3

Fold the elastic in half, aligning the short ends.

    • 4

Sew together the short ends by stitching 1/2 inch from the short ends. Use a straight stitch and a short stitch length. Sew backward and forward across the end several times to make a strong seam.

    • 5

Turn the headband right side out to wear it. It will be slightly stretched when it is around your head.
