How to Fix a Firefox Persona Header

A Firefox Persona is a mini theme that you can install on Firefox to customize the browser. The Persona Header image appears at the top of the Firefox browser. There are many Firefox personas available for download online. If you've downloaded a persona, but the header image is not appearing, you can try a few troubleshooting steps to address the problem, such as uninstalling any themes currently installed (personas are not compatible with themes), changing your OS theme back to its default setting or disabling problem extensions or plugins.

Instructions

  1. Uninstall Themes

    • 1

Click on the "Firefox" button in the top left corner of the browser, and select "Add-ons."

    • 2

Click "Appearance" on the left side of the window pane.

    • 3

Highlight each of the "Themes," and click the "Uninstall" button to remove them. Persona Headers are not compatible with full Firefox themes. Restart Firefox.

Switch to Default Operating System Theme

    • 4

Click "Start," and select "Control Panel."

    • 5

Type in "Theme" into the search bar in the upper right corner of the Control Panel window. Click on "Change the theme" when the link appears.

    • 6

Scroll down and locate "Windows 7" beneath the "Aero Themes" section. Click on the theme to apply it.

    • 7

      Restart the Firefox browser.

    Disable Extensions/Plugins

    • 8

Click on "Firefox" in the top left corner of the browser, and select "Add-ons."

    • 9

Click on "Extensions" on the left side of the window pane.

    • 10

Click the "Disable" button next to each installed extension then restart Firefox. Verify the persona works. If it works, one of your installed extensions is causing a conflict within Firefox.

    • 11

Return to the "Add-ons" menu, and click "Extensions" again. Re-enable each extension, one-by-one, restarting Firefox after each. Verify that the persona works after you re-enable each extension. If it no longer works, the most recently enabled extension is causing problems. Leave the extension disabled or attempt to update it.

    • 12

Repeat the process with "Plugins" if disabling Firefox extensions does not fix the problem.
