How to Make PNG Transparent in SnagIt

Save

To make a PNG image transparent, you need to use the Watermark effect in TechSmith's Snagit Editor. The Watermark effect turns the PNG image transparent based on the options that you choose. When creating the watermark, a preview of the image is displayed.

  • Open SnagIt Editor and select "New" from the "Snagit" button.

  • Set the new image size. This should match the size of the PNG image. Click "OK."

  • Select "Watermark" in the "Modify" group on the "Image" tab. This opens the "Watermark" window.

  • Click the "Browse" button next to the "File" field and navigate to the location of your image. Click "Open." Click "Advanced Settings."

  • Drag the "Depth" marker to set the transparency level of the image. Move the "Watermark Size" marker to 100%. Click the "Close" button.

  • Select "Save As" from the "Snagit" button and rename your image to preserve the original PNG.
