How to Make a Mini Skirt From a Shirt
New clothing can get expensive, so look to your closet to craft new pieces out of old materials. If you have a T-shirt with a pattern you like, and you don't mind sacrificing it in the name of fashion, try making it into a mini skirt. Crafting a mini skirt out of a T-shirt will take you less than a half hour.

1
Lay the T-shirt down on a flat surface and remove the top half of it by cutting a straight line underneath the armholes.
-
2
Try on the bottom half of the t-shirt inside out. Test it for length and tightness. If you'd like the mini skirt to be shorter, remove it and cut a straight line along the waistline. If the mini skirt needs to be tighter, fold one side to the desired fit and pin it in place.

-
3
Take off the skirt and make a vertical basting stitch to hold the fold in place. Double knot the ends of the thread.
-
4
Cut away the folded side of the fabric.
-
5
Sew along the basted line using a flat line stitching pattern.
-
6
Lay the mini skirt on a flat surface and fold the top edge down one inch.
-
7
Make 1/4-inch cuts into the fold that are spaced 3 inches apart. Make these cuts across the entire fold.
-
8
Unfold the top of the skirt and thread the 1/4-inch belt through the holes. Tighten the belt after you put the skirt on to keep the skirt in place.
