How to Remember Math Facts
Learning and remembering math facts is sometimes difficult for many students. Often rules and formulas get mixed up making it confusing to retain information. It also seems there are a few facts that just don't sink in no matter how much you study. The following five guidelines will enable students to effectively memorize necessary math facts and formulas.

1
Create a set of flash cards using index cards for each type of math fact you are trying to remember. Flash cards help students remember all areas of math and are an effective way to make progress. For example, if you need to learn the multiplication tables, write out 2 x 3 on the front of the card and the answer of 6 on the back. Then go over the cards until you have the math facts memorized.

2
Write out math facts several times until you have them memorized. The process of repetition helps for learning nearly anything, and math is no exception. Simply get a pencil and sheet of paper and write each math fact out at least ten times. This should help you pick up on the patterns and retain the information.

3
Concentrate on the math facts and formulas you are having problems with. Usually writing them down or saying them out loud to yourself over and over can help. Once the difficult facts become more familiar, you should have an easier time recognizing and remembering them.
-
4
Write out difficult math facts on a whiteboard or chalkboard in your room. Surrounding yourself with the information on a daily basis is another technique for helping it stick.
-
5
Take a walk and repeat the needed math facts out loud to yourself. Once you get into a rhythm while walking, the information should become easier to retain.
