How to Turn on Atheros

Atheros produces wireless chipsets that many computer manufacturers use in their products to enable wireless functionality in their devices, such as desktop and laptop computers. Most computers with wireless functionality based on an Atheros chipset also include the ability to enable or disable the wireless card. You can turn on an Atheros-based wireless card by toggling the hardware or software wireless switch on the computer, or by enabling the wireless card from within the Microsoft Windows operating system.

      Toggle the wireless switch on the computer. Some computers have a physical switch on the outside of the computer. Other computers have a software switch that's activated by pressing a certain key combination. Typically, the combination is "Fn" plus "F2," though your computer may be different.

      Click the "Network" icon in the lower right corner of the screen by the clock.

      Click "Open Network and Sharing Center."

      Click "Change adapter settings."

      Right-click the Atheros wireless adapter, and then click "Enable."
