How to Switch Sole Plates on a Rollerblade DT5
Whether they're worn out from too many grinds or otherwise causing you trouble, the sole plates on Rollerblade DT5s are challenging to switch out. Despite appearances and contrasting colors, Down Town 5 sole plates are riveted on to the boot, making the replacement process harder than you might think.

Change out the old sole plates for the replacements. Replace the washers and fasten the plates to the boot using a hex wrench and t-nuts. Aggressive Mall recommends buying "Razor/Remz mini allen bolts with mini allen t-nuts" for best results.

Tips & Warnings
Be cautious when drilling out the rivets. If you're not sure what to do, solicit the help of an experienced in-line skate technician.
This procedure is only advisable if the wear on the sole plates prevents normal grinding and the skates would not function if the plates were not replaced.
In-line skating can result in injury. Always skate within your ability level.
Carelessness with the drill can melt the boot and do permanent damage to the skate.
