When you prepare your resume, look at the document from the point of view of the employer. Hiring managers might receive hundreds of resumes for each job opening, and that means those managers must screen the documents quickly. One way they do that is by scanning for important skills, qualities and talents. Building those highly sought-after qualities into your own resume is one way to get through the screening process, land an interview and eventually the job.

Review your current resume and look for keywords that could be considered positive qualities. Retain those keywords and use them to showcase your talents. For instance, if screening calls is part of your job, highlight "excellent communication skills" as a key skill on your resume.

Read the job listing carefully and use the information you find to tweak and fine-tune your resume. With your resume stored on your computer, you can tailor the document to each job opening by making small changes that reflect exactly what each employer is looking for. You could, for instance, tweak your resume to include the fact that you are detail-oriented, if the job listing notes that as an important skill.

Write down the positive qualities that are most universally sought after by employers. According to Quintessential Careers, qualities like effective communication skills, strong research and analytical skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability, leadership skills and sensitivity are highly desirable skills for virtually any position.

Incorporate the positive qualities you have brainstormed into the objective at the top of your resume. For instance, if you are a dedicated team player, you could write something like "Seeking a challenging managerial position that allows me to work with a talented team."

Detail your work experience in the employment section of the resume. Incorporate the positive qualities you have outlined into the positions you list. Focus on the accomplishments you were able to achieve by using universal positive qualities, like teamwork, cooperation and a detail-oriented attitude.
