Uncover answers to questions you may have.

Pendulums are used to help tap into your subconscious, your higher consciousness and the universal collective consciousness. Whether you're looking for simple "Yes" or "No" answers or something more in-depth, dowsing with a pendulum may offer insight. Though some say spirits are accessed when using a pendulum, others believe this simple device can be influenced by the unconscious. To make your own pendulum, you can suspend just about anything that is weighted from a string. Pendulums can be made of wood, plastic, or crystal. Some are made from metal, or even cork. You can create a long-lasting pendulum out of items you may already have on hand.

Step 1

Take the necklace and open the clasp. This will allow you to slide the ring onto the chain.

Step 2

Insert the open chain through the hole in the ring. Clasp the necklace so it is closed, and the ring slides freely on the chain without falling off.

Step 3

Rest the elbow of your dominant arm on a table, and hold your forearm vertical to the table. Hold the pendulum so the ring hangs about 2 to 3 inches from your fingers. Decide on which swing motions will be "Yes," "No" and "Unknown." For example, you can decide that a right to left motion will be "Yes." An up and down motion can be "No," and a circular motion can be "Unknown." This means the information is not available at this time.

Step 4

Test the pendulum for effectiveness by holding it between your thumb and forefinger and asking a question you already know the answer to such as, "Is the sky blue?" See if the pendulum swings in your predetermined "Yes" direction.

Step 5

Repeat Step 4 with up to ten questions you know the answers to so that you're certain of the swing of the pendulum. You may need to change your previously predetermined swing directions.

Step 6

While holding the pendulum, be sure that it swings freely and that the chain you've used isn't too short or too thick. If you find that it doesn't move easily, try using another chain or a ring that's either lighter or heavier until you get the desired results.

Tip

Try making several types of pendulums using different chains and materials. Try suspending wood, plastic, copper, or crystal and see which works best for you. Everyone is different and what works for one person may not work as well for someone else.

Make sure you're relaxed when using the pendulum or you may get negative or conflicting answers.

Warning

If you get consistently negative answers to your questions and you feel uncomfortable with the results, try again at another time. Never follow guidance that goes against common sense, your instincts or intuition.
