How to Direct Chi Energy

Chi is the universal energy present in all living things. This ancient Chinese belief is also called qi, prana, God and life-force energy. The practice of enhancing and raising awareness of Chi is thought to bring you serenity and good health. While Chi energy is able to find and treat areas of your body that need healing, it can also be directed by you. Through daily meditation, you become more aware of Chi energy. Once awareness is achieved, you are able to direct Chi energy through visualization.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Sit in a comfortable position, with your spine straight. You can sit on the floor or in a chair. Rest your hands gently on your lap.

    • 2

Breathe slowly. Take calming breaths in through your nose. Each breath brings Chi deeper into your body. Exhale slowly through your mouth. You will feel the tension leaving your body with each exhalation. Block out distracting thoughts while you focus on your breathing.

    • 3

Be aware of how your body feels. Let all your muscles become limp and relaxed. Feel the calmness of Chi in your body.

    • 4

Visualize the white light of Chi filling your body. What you visualize is not important. Your vision of Chi energy can be anything you choose it to be. It is your intuition and your intention that is most important.

    • 5

Feel the divine warmth of Chi in your body. Focus all of your attention toward it. Your intuition lets you feel the energy. Continue your slow, relaxed breathing.

    • 6

Concentrate on the area of your body where Chi feels the most intense. With your mind as your guide, direct your Chi to another part of your body. Feel the warmth move to where your inner force asked it to go.

    • 7

Practice this exercise daily. You will raise awareness of Chi energy with time and practice. Allow yourself time before you rise from this mediation.
