How to Troubleshoot a Miller Legend AEAD 200LE

The Miller Legend AEAD 200LE is a welding machine manufactured by Miller Electric Manufacturing. Miller, based in Appleton, Wisconsin, designs and manufactures arc welding and cutting equipment for fabrication, construction, aviation, agricultural and marine purposes. The company was founded in 1929 by Neils Miller. Arc welders use an electric power supply to create an electric arc between an electrode and a bonding material to melt the metals at the point of welding. Regular inspection and care of the Miller Legend AEAD 200LE optimizes its continued performance.

Things You'll Need

  • Soda solution
  • Soft wire brush
  • Clean water
  • Check the fuel lines for leaks if the gasoline gauges are reading low prematurely. Let the engine cool and close the fuel shut-off valve. Release the hose clamps, then remove filter and clamps. Inspect the lines for cracks, wear, damage or deterioration. Open the fuel shut-off valve and inspect the fuel line connections for any signs of spilled fuel. Replace any leaky fuel lines.

  • Inspect the battery for buildup of white-grayish substance --- this is an indication of acidic corrosion. Clean the battery with soda solution and a soft wire brush. Rinse the treated area with clean water.

  • Ensure the fine amperage control is adjusted properly if the welding engine is producing lower power output at power receptacles. Rotate the fine amperage control R1 to 100. This could also be due to the engine running below required speed. Rotate the adjustment nut on the power speed adjustment rod to change the running speed.
