How to Play "Factor Captor"

Factor captor is a two-player game in which players use their understanding of prime and composite numbers to outmaneuver their opponents. This two-player game requires analysis and strategic thinking, as players must choose prime numbers, or numbers with the fewest factors, to earn the most points and win the game.

Factor Captor Game Play

  • Factors are numbers that are multiplied together to get a product. For instance, the product 12 has six factors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12, because 1 x 12, 2 x 6 and 3 x 4 each equal 12. To play factor captor, player A circles a product on the game board. Player B circles all the factors of that product. If player B fails to cover one of the factors, player A may do so and take the points. The roles are then reversed and player B circles a product and his opponent circles the factors. The game continues until no more numbers are left that can be played. Players add the numbers they have circled to find who has the most points.
