How to Do a Cake on Facebook

Save

One Facebook feature that helps keep friends and family connected is birthday alerts. When one of the people on your Friends List has a birthday, Facebook notifies you. Instead of the standard "Happy Birthday" post, you can instead take a more creative route and post a birthday cake for your friend. Unfortunately there are no cake symbols in Facebook, but using text-art you can create and post a cake on your friend's Facebook Wall.

  • Launch you preferred Web browser and visit Facebook.com.

  • Type in your email address and password associated with your account into the available fields. Click "Log In."

  • Click within the "Search" field at the top of the page and begin typing the name of your friend that you want to wish Happy Birthday to. A drop-down list of your friends will appear. Click on the friend's name from the list.

  • Click within the "Write something" box beneath the "Share" section on the page. Copy and paste the following set of symbols to create a birthday cake:

    '''''''''''''''''''''0-0-0-0

    ''''''''''''''''''''|'|-|'|-|'|-|'|

    '''''''''''''''{~~~~~}

    '''''''''OOOOOOOOOOO

    ''''''{~~~~~~~~~*~}

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    {~~~~~~~~~~~~~}

    {~~~~~~~~~~~~~}

    {~~~~~~~~~~~~~}

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to share the virtual birthday cake with your friend.
