How to Remove Warping From Pressboards

Pressboards are most commonly a part of the subflooring in homes. When your home incurs any type of water damage, such as from a leaking pipe or roof, and that water damage makes it into the subfloor, there are many different problems that can occur as a result. For example, pressboards that help make up your subfloor can become warped. This warping cannot be repaired by reshaping the pressboards. Things You'll Need

  • Chalk
  • Circular saw
  • Pry bar
  • New pressboard
  • Power screwdriver
  • Screws

Instructions

      Inspect the damaged area carefully and draw chalk lines around the pressboards that have been warped.

      Set a circular saw to cut through the thickness of the pressboards of your subfloor.

      Cut along the chalk line you drew using your circular saw. Be careful not to cut into any screws or nails in the pressboard. Remove the pressboard with a pry bar.

      Insert a new piece of pressboard that has been cut to fit where the old one was removed.

      Use a power screwdriver to screw the new piece of pressboard in place. Secure the pressboard to the floor joists.
