How to Dance Like a Robot

How to Dance Like a Robot thumbnail
Keep your movements rigid and simple to dance like a robot.

While many dances require special skills and training --- not to mention rhythm --- just about anyone can do the robot dance; you just need to know the basic steps. The key to dancing like a robot is understanding that it is an illusional dance, and your movements and facial expressions should imitate a stereotypical robot. Don't take it too seriously, and have fun with it.

Instructions

    • 1

Start in a "lock" position: a frozen posture that creates the impression of a robot that is not yet powered on.

    • 2

Keep your facial expression blank throughout your robot dance.

    • 3

Begin to move your arms and legs in rigid, sharp movements, and avoid fluid movements. One popular robot dance move is to hold one or both arms parallel to the floor and swing the lower arm side to side.

    • 4

Use the same rigid, sharp movements to turn around, bend from the waist and move your neck.

    • 5

Stop abruptly and end in a lock position just as you began.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set a robot dance to music. A particular kind is not required; in fact, sometimes the more unusual the music, the more impact your robot dance can have.
