How to Calculate Man Hours Lost From Employee Leave
Man-hours are used to estimate the amount of time required to complete a job. When an employee goes on leave, the number of man-hours that you can utilize is reduced. 1
Estimate the number of hours that an employee normally works in a day. If the employee always works a set number of hours daily, use that figure; otherwise, calculate an average number.
-
2
Calculate the number of working days that the employee will be missing. Look at the period when he will be on leave and estimate the number of days he would normally work during that time. Exclude any holidays in that time period.

3
Multiply the daily hours by the number of days that your employee will miss during his leave. This is the total man-hours lost.
