How to Count Tallies in Tweet Mentions
Social media is becoming integral to the way products and services are marketed in the online sphere. The popularity of social networking sites such as Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Flikr and YouTube have opened up new media marketing channels and enabled free two-way conversations between companies and consumers. It has thus become important to be able to measure the effectiveness of social media activities. One of these tools, Social Mention, traces and tallies Tweet mentions by keyword.

Connect to the Internet, open your Web browser and go to Social Mention.com.

Enter your Twitter name, business name or alternative keyword in the large search bar at the top of the page.

Click the drop-down box that reads "All," and select "Microblogs."

Click the orange "Search" button to the right of the search box. The tally of mentions will be displayed in the top right hand corner of the search results. Refine results by clicking the "Date" drop-down box at the top of the search results.
