How to Grind Elk Meat
Elk meat and deer meat are high in protein and low in fat, making them healthy meats to enjoy. Unfreeze your elk meat. Ensure your elk meat is only slightly frozen to make the grinding process easier. Thaw your meat until you can get a knife fairly easily into the meat.

Trim off the silver skin and excess fat you do not want from your meat with the knife.

Place the meat into the cutting board and cut it into small pieces. Depending on the size of your meat grinder, the size of the meat pieces it can handle varies. To ensure you have no problem, cut your elk meat to 1-by-3-inch pieces.

Place your freezer storage bag at the end of the grinder where the ground meat will come out.

Put in the cut pieces of the elk meat into the meat grinder and turn it on. Push the meat through the meat grinder with the plastic stuffer that comes with the meat grinder until all the meat is grounded down. You can now cook your ground venison or store it in your freezer for a later time.
