Instructions

    • 1

Turn the pool filter off and switch off the electrical breaker on the main power panel to ensure no electricity is running to the filter.

    • 2

Locate the drain plug on the underside of the swimming pool filter. Using pliers or a screwdriver, remove the plug from the unit. Wait for the water inside the filter to drain out before proceeding.

    • 3

Loosen the dial valve clamp by hand, then pull the dial valve out of the swimming pool filter and set it next to the filter.

    • 4

Carefully scoop out as much sand as possible from inside the filter with a hand scoop, taking caution not to crack or break any of the plastic components inside the filter. Plug in a shop vacuum and clean out the remaining sand.

    • 5

Replace the drain plug. Open the bag of pool filter sand, then place your hand directly over the pipe in the middle of the sand reservoir to keep sand from getting into the pipe. Fill the filter about one-third of the way with water.

    • 6

Pour the pool filter sand into the reservoir, then replace the dial valve and clamp. Plug the filter back in and switch the breaker back on.
