Commercial eggnog is available in grocery stores in the fall, just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Because eggnog is made with raw eggs, it must be stored properly. The United States Department of Agriculture states that homemade eggnog should not be saved and frozen. Commercial eggnog that has been pasteurized, however, can be frozen for up to six months. Things You'll Need

  • Plastic freezer bag
  • Label
  • Permanent marker

Instructions

    • 1

      Set your eggnog carton in the freezer. Keep it vertical. Wait 24 hours for the eggnog to completely freeze.

      Place the frozen eggnog carton in a plastic freezer bag and zip shut.

    • 3

      Set a sticky label on the front of the plastic freezer bag. List the date on the label with a permanent marker.

    • 4

      Keep the eggnog in the freezer up to six months after the date you placed on the label.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you are ready to drink the eggnog, thaw it out in the refrigerator. Shake before using.

  • Don't freeze eggnog that has reached or extended beyond the expiration date set by the manufacturer.
