While a juicer makes short work of making lemon juice, it is equally as easy to juice a lemon using your bare hands. Whether you are juicing one lemon for a recipe or juicing enough to make lemonade, juicing a lemon without a juicer can be performed anytime lemon juice is needed.

Step 1

Massage the lemon for approximately 1 minute, by rolling it between your hands or over a counter top. This helps the lemon pulp release its juice.

Step 4

Squeeze the lemon half, allowing the juice and seeds to fall into your open hand over the bowl. The juice will dribble through your fingers into the bowl, while the seeds will stay in your hand.

Step 5

Turn the lemon half in your hand to thoroughly squeeze any juice remaining in the lemon. Repeat this procedure with the remaining lemon half. Do the same thing for any remaining lemons you want to juice.

Tip

Always keep your fingers closed when doing this to prevent seeds from slipping through into the juice in the bowl.

You can also use this procedure to juice limes, oranges or other citrus fruits.

Once you have mastered this method of juicing, you many never reach for a reamer or juicer again.
