How to Take Out a Scorpion in "Halo"

Scorpions are a formidable enemy in the "Halo" series. They're the human-run tanks that can take out ground troops, including you, in just one hit. You won't have to worry about them in the single player campaign since they're on your side, but they'll be a tough opponent if the opposing team grabs one during online death matches. There are several ways to take them out, including firing at it with another tank or shooting it with a few rocket launcher rounds. The most reliable way to take them out, however, is to sneak up to one on foot and toss a grenade inside.

    Instructions

      • 1

Collect a grenade. You start off with them in most multiplayer matches, but if not, you can find them lying around nearly everywhere. It doesn't matter if its a plasma or frag grenade.

      • 2

Sneak up to the tank by clicking down on the left analog stick. Going into sneak mode will make you slower, but also make you invisible to radar.

      • 3

Approach the Scorpion and hold "X" if playing "Halo 2" to board it. Hold "RB" to board it if playing "Halo 3" or "Halo: Reach."

      • 4

Tap the "B" button to melee the vehicle. You can usually destroy the vehicle with three or four punches depending on how weak it is already.

      • 5

Press the "L" trigger to plant a grenade. Your avatar will immediately jump off. Run away from the blast zone and watch the fireworks as the scorpion explodes.

    Tips & Warnings

    • This trick works with all versions of "Halo" except "Halo: Combat Evolved." Boarding was not introduced until "Halo 2."

    • This also takes out Wraiths, the alien equivalent of the human-made Scorpion.

    • You can plunk away at Scorpions with virtually any weapon if you don't have any grenades, lasers or rocket launchers available. However, chances are the tank will spot you and take you out before you can do any serious damage.
