1
Wash and condition your hair well. Seek out and use products that indicate their commitment to moisture. Natural hair thrives on moisture, which makes it more manageable and look attractive.
-
2
Moisturize your hair. Apply the recommended amount of moisturizer to your tresses, being sure to cover your entire head.
-
-
3
Apply pomade to your hair. A dime-sized amount is a good starting amount, but you can increase this as needed to evenly distribute the product throughout your hair.
-
4
Brush your hair down, working all the way around your head, smoothing your Afro down with your other hand as you go.
-
5
Wear a satin scarf or sleep cap to protect your hair from breakage at night. Friction from your bedding can cause your hair to break and shed, undermining your efforts to grow out your Afro.
