How to Arrange a Craft Room
Whether you are scrapbooking, sewing, beading or painting, a craft room gives you the space and organization to work on your hobby. A comfortable, tidy room with the proper storage can keep you motivated and excited to continue crafting, while providing a quiet personal space. A well-organized room allows for pleasure, relaxation and stress-free crafting. 1
Select a work table. Consider how much room you need depending on the type of crafting you do. Choose a table that provides space for a lamp and small storage containers to sit on top of the desk, as well as a comfortable chair that fits the desk's height. If there is a window in the room, place the desk under or next to the window to use natural light.

2
Create a place to showcase or store new ideas. Purchase a binder and plastic sleeves to organize inspiration you find in magazines, websites, newspapers or books. Hang a magnet or cork board to post photos, quotations or notes to motivate and inspire you.

Select storage carefully. Properly storing your crafts and accessories keeps you organized and makes crafting easier. Clear plastic bins, rolling stacked plastic drawers, file drawers, an old dresser, stacking rubber containers, shelving units, cardboard boxes, hooks and baskets provide ample storage for your craft of choice. Vertical storage and peg boards work well for tight spaces. Note the items you use most frequently and make them readily available on or underneath the desk. Use decorated soup cans, small baskets or muffin tins to organize small items on the top of your desk.

4
Avoid harsh florescent lighting and choose a softer full spectrum bulb that mimics natural light. Use a floor or desk lamp for additional lighting when working on detailed projects.

5
Make the space enjoyable and relaxing. Add a soft blanket, space heater or a small fan to keep the temperature comfortable throughout the year. Choose your favorite scented candles or flowers for a calming effect and bring in a stereo or MP3 player. Hang your crafts or photos of family and friends around the room.
