How to Make Thread-Knot Bracelets
Friendship bracelets, made from thread and beads in a variety of designs, provide gifts for teens and preteens to make and exchange. Although friendship bracelets can consist of many different stringing materials, embroidery floss is frequently used. Choose one or more embroidery floss colors and make thread-knot bracelets to keep or share with your friends.

1
Cut four 1-yard lengths of embroidery floss and place them all together. Tie an overhand knot in the strands about 2 inches away from one end.
-
2
Tape the knot to a flat work surface. Arrange the four strands coming down from the knot to make two center strands that will not move, a left outer strand (Strand 1) and a right outer strand (Strand 4).
-
-
3
Cross Strand 1 over the center strands and under Strand 4 to make a half knot. Pull the strands tight.
-
4
Cross Strand 4 under the center strands and over Strand 1 to make a half knot. Pull the strands tight.
-
5
Continue alternating between Strand 1 and Strand 4 to tie knots over the center strands.
-
6
Thread a pony bead over the center strands every inch, if you desire, and continue knotting.
-
7
Continue knotting and adding beads until the bracelet encircles your wrist.
-
8
Tie the two ends of the bracelet together around your wrist in a double knot. Trim off the excess strands of floss to finish.
