How to Choose a Webcam
Webcams allow you to take pictures and video chat with friends and family right from your computer. Many modern computers come equipped with webcams that are already built in above the screen. However, if your computer doesn't have a webcam, you can purchase one from any computer supply store. Even if you don't know much about computers, you should be able to quickly find a webcam that is compatible with your computer.

Determine whether the webcam is compatible with a desktop or laptop computer. This information will be on the webcam packaging. For example, if the webcam is designed for a laptop, it may have a clamp on the bottom of the unit, whereas if it is made for a desktop, it may have a base stand that sits on top of the monitor.

Choose a webcam that is compatible with your computer. If you have a Mac, make sure the sync software disc that comes with the webcam is compatible with a Mac; for a PC, make sure it is compatible with a PC. This information will be on the packaging, as well.
