How Do I Add AOL Screen Names to the Dropdown List?

The drop-down list in AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) refers to "USB Phone and Web Camera" compatibility. The drop-down menu appears to the right of a screen name that is capable of having an AOL Talk IM or a Video IM session with you. In order to add a screen name to the drop-down menu, you will need to first add that screen name as your buddy in AIM. You will need to log in to your AIM using AOL user name and password.

Instructions

1. Launch AIM from your Start menu, desktop shortcut or task bar quick-launch icon.

2. Type your AOL user name and password to log in.

3. Click "Add" from the "Buddy List" window.

4. Type the screen name that you wish to add to the drop-down list in the "Buddy Name" field.

5. Click "Add."

6. Check your buddy list. You will find the new screen name in the list and an icon next to it displaying a drop-down menu. Click the drop-down menu to either initiate "AOL Talk IM" session or a "Video Messenger" session, based on the person's computer compatibility.
