How to Make Your Own Letter Stamp
Make your own letter ink stamp to add personalized decoration to your stationery. Air dry modeling clay can be cut and formed into any shape and doesn't need to be fired to harden completely. Craft foam rubber serves as the padding that holds the ink so you can stamp it down.
Things You'll Need

1
Draw the size and shape of your letter stamp on a piece of thin cardboard. Make the total width of the letter between 1 and 2 inches wide at the widest point, and the thickness of the lines of the letter no less than 1/4 inch thick so it doesn't weaken. Cut out the outside edges of the letter with scissors and cut out any inside openings of the letter with a sharp utility knife.
-
2
Flatten a piece of air dry modeling clay to 1/2 inch thick and as wide and long as you want your letter stamp to be. Place the cardboard cut-out of the letter on the flattened clay and cut through the clay around the edges of the cardboard letter with a knife. Lift the cardboard letter from the clay and remove the excess clay to reveal the clay letter.

3
Mold another piece of air dry clay into a nub, 1 1/4 inch long and about 3/4 inch thick. This is the handle for the letter stamp. Use your knife to make a series of crosshatched slashes on one end of the handle nub. Make the same series of crosshatched slashes in a 1/4-inch-thick circle in the middle of the top of the clay letter.
-
4
Add a few drops of water to the slashes on the end of the handle nub and gently press it to the slashes on the clay letter. Blend the edges of the handle nub to the surface of the clay letter with the wet clay. Wait 24 to 48 hours for the clay to harden completely.

5
Place the flat bottom of the clay letter stamp on a sheet of 1/8-inch-thick craft foam rubber. Trace around the edge of the clay letter on the foam rubber with a pen. Cut around the edges of the letter with scissors and cut the inside edges with a utility knife.
-
6
Spread epoxy adhesive on the flat bottom of the clay letter and press the foam rubber letter you cut out to the adhesive and make sure the edges are aligned. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to dry completely before using your letter stamp with ink.
